Bathroom Remodeling

We're into the last stages of our hall bathroom re-deaux.  Our friend Rob Wolfe, owner of Majestic Flooring in Ruskin is laying us an amazing (newer) product on the floors!  It's a hard man made material, but flexible, with a little give when you walk over it.  Rob is laying it with "grout" lines between the pieces.  Those are actually made of long strips of plastic he cuts to fit.  The new floor will look just like we have a nifty, expensive slate & terracotta floor in there.  Will take photos soon, no light fixture back in there yet. I have step by step photos of the "before" with my drywall repair, moving the wall electric, texturizing all the walls with mud, priming with a deep pink paint and then painting the walls a deep terracotta red.  Today, we picked the vanity cabinet base paint. So now all that's left to do is for my Handy Husband Art to paint, cut and attach the wide baseboard we've chosen, then paint the cabinet & drawers.  He's decided that painting the cabinets is HIS job.  OK, twist my arm!  Then we can instal the new toilet, cabinet, sink/vanity, mirror, light fixture, towel bar, TP holder, shower curtain, window curtain, a closet door or drape and maybe even a new bathroom door!

Monday Thoughts - Happy August

Had a great Power Walk this morning with my walking buddy.  We started today about 6:30AM and the sky was a beautiful deep blue and pinky-orange.  Little Bats were still flying around lapping up bugs before they headed off to bed in some remote dark place.  I'm bringing up Bats because some Critter is eating our fruit on the Carambola (Star Fruit) Tree in the back yard.  The tree is directly outside my office window.  I get to marvel at the spender of this huge tree every time I'm at my computer!  Anyway, I've noticed that some of the fruit looks chewed.  Looks like tiny "teeth" marks, chewing marks in a scooping shape. Could it be the Bats? Some fruit ends up on the ground chewed and others are still hanging in the tree. Just something I wonder about.  At least we're naturally feeding our organic fruit to some Critter!

Mineral Oil is a TOXIN folks!

Mineral Oil

by Joanne Massey-Dean on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 5:48pm

Mineral oil or liquid petrolatum is a by-product in the distillation of petroleum to produce gasoline. It is a transparent, colorless oil composed mainly of alkanes (typically 15 to 40 carbons) and cyclic paraffins, related to white petrolatum.

Mineral oil is a substance of relatively low value, and it is produced in very large quantities.

Mineral oil is available in light and heavy grades, and can often be found in drug stores.

The Effects of Mineral Oil
Listed below are just 4 reasons why NOT to use products that contain mineral oil:

1)Mineral oil masks itself as Estrogen. Making women Estrogen Dominant, which throws off our hormone levels causing many side effects such as: Depression, weight gain, thyroid problems, breast cancer, etc?

2)Mineral oil blocks the pores from releasing toxins. Toxins are then found in lymphoid and breast tissue of breast cancer patients.

3)Mineral oil blocks the skin from ever receiving moisture, thus your skin will be dry each day.

4)In a 1996 John Hopkins Study, Mineral oil is listed as the #2 cause of aging.

Take a look at the ingredients of your skin care and personal care products.

Do they contain Mineral Oil???

All Arbonne products are formulated without mineral oil.

Arbonne products are formulated in Switzerland where mineral oil is illegal to use in beauty products.

(makes you wonder way the US doesn't ban Mineral Oil, doesn't it?  rr)

Sunday Night Thoughts

Occasionally when I'm walking through a store I'll stop and read labels?  Do you do that?  What I'm most concerned with these days are all the toxins in not only our food . . . but in so many everyday products like soaps, shampoos, conditioners, lotions, cosmetics.  Did you know that our SKIN is actually the largest organ of our body?  It's shocking when you read some of these labels and realize that all that crap is entering our bodies and heading straight to our blood stream and internal organs. We deserve the best in life, we deserve to be healthy and not deceived by product advertising and some high paid photoshoped "SpokesModel".  I found a pretty comprehensive note on MINERAL OIL on a friends FB page.  She too, is an Arbonne Independent Consultant like me.  After reading all this, if you have more questions or if you'd like to finally "get clean" with your skin care, call me, or post me a note.  Look for Mineral Oil in the next post!

Some Days I wake up Singing

This is a new day, actually every day I wake up is a new day.  I can choose to start over in the same place where I left off before I feel asleep.  Or I can choose to begin a new each morning.  Some days it's easier than others to "begin anew".  You ever feel that way?  This week I've been home and quiet a lot due to illness.  Not being able to talk comfortably (laryngitis) or to smell the fragrances in the air (sinus infection) or to take a deep breath (bronchitis) has made me think a lot about where I am, how I got here, and what I'm going to do with my life.  The idea here, is to write everyday - positive thoughts and feelings.  To record only the good that come to me and those I love. Chime in as you like . . . companions on this journey are always a Blessing!
